Romney's chance speech.

What do you think of this speech?

  1. I think he needs to explain himself and be more clear about what he meant, because he comes dangerously close to taking on the new media and standing up for the old media.

"Frankly, in some of the new media, I find myself missing the presence of editors to exercise quality control.”

"...You will continue to find ways to provide the American people with reliable information that is vital to our lives..."

it seems he comes very close to saying the new media has a long way to come to meet the standards o the old media. That would be the same old media that splices 911 tapes, fools people with video. writes pieces that we think are fact but are actually opinion pieces, and also flat out lies that are never edited to show the real truth about a situation the print media wants to distort.

I am doing my best to get behind this man, I really want to beat Obama in November but he is not making any new friends by these types of comments about the new media. And obviously the old print media is not going to cover these kinds of statements because they have been at war with us in the new media for over a decade now. It is only the new media in the past 24 hours that is asking why he would make a statement like this, and frankly he doesn't even have to answer.

With all due respect to Gov. Romney, we in the new media do a better job at editing and getting the right story than the MSM or even the old school print media does these days, and I think if he would embrace that he would see that a lot of us WANT to support him but have a hard time doing so because he sounds like every other politician when it comes to the new media.

All we have asked for is the same rights as regular print journalists and some respect when it comes to breaking stories. Men like Breitbart and Matt Drudge made it acceptable to be a citizen journalist again and tell the story the MSM will not tell. I just think Gov. Romney should embrace that and not fight it like the old media has fought it.
